My dad isn't even 70 yet and he just had back surgery and is already looking at hiking boots. He hasn't hiked in years, hasn't been able to take a simple walk around Portland with us and just ask my mom...he couldn't dance either! Well...he can dance now and he is almost ready to get back to the second love of his life...tennis! Now where was I...oh yeah, running around like a chicken with no head...
That's what it has been like here at the inn the past week. Hosting After Hours on Tuesday was a hoot! We had so much fun and the food was delish and we couldn't have planned it any better. I have to say the Rum'd Cider was probably the biggest hit and most people were so enamored by the fact that is was Rum'd. "But you can't even taste the rum!" Ummm...well...that's kind of the point wasn't it? Although Ray was in charge of that and you could smell his cup of Rum'd cider several feet away. He made his own "special" cup.
Great and wonderful friends helping in the kitchen made this evening even better than we expected and since then, we have cleaned the inn, entertained guests, made an over-night trip to Portland to Christmas shop, hauled up our four Christmas trees from the basement, decorated them yesterday, took a nap, baked and had dinner with friends last night at Clemenza's, and ate pie. Wow...can't get better than that!
So, today I have decided to RELAX!
Heading upstairs to "be a guest in my own inn" and soak in my old tub then it's cupcake jammies for the rest of day. Enjoy your Sunday and I will enjoy your piece of leftover pumpkin pie!
